One of the early questions I had when I thought about writing my wedding speech was; “What should I include in my speech?” After a lot of research I concluded that most bride wedding speeches included the following components:

1) An Opening Line
2) An Offering of thanks to family & friends with emphasis on those who participated most at the wedding (include their generosity to cover the gifts).
3) Something nice about your parents
4) Something nice about the grooms parents
5) Maybe some observations about the wedding
6) Something romantic and wonderful about your new husband
7) Some sort of closing or bride’s toast

Note: I found this example of a bride wedding speech that you really wouldn’t want to pattern your wedding speech after. Try to appear more spontaneous and never read your bride’s speech directly from a sheet of paper!

Though I was confused as to where to start my wedding speech, the resource that I found most helpful pulled it all together for me. It had a number of bride speech examples and an easy process for writing my own personalized bridal speech. I’m not sure I could have written my speech without this guide.

Also, a number of articles and blog posts I read describing bride wedding speeches also included a special note about any special circumstances that may have affected you; like a death in the family or wishes that a parent or in-law were still alive. Including a mention along these lines as part of the joyous event, can be a nice touch, but don’t let it put a damper on the upbeat, festive atmosphere of the wedding day.

Luckily, I didn’t need to add a note to this effect in my bride’s speech and felt blessed that this was the case.
