It was a bit of a hassle, but doing my homework for my bride wedding speech ended up really paying off. Hi, it’s Alyssa again. I just want to tell everyone that our wedding was beautiful! And after I found what turned out to be the perfect wedding speech resource, I didn’t spend one more minute worrying about preparing my speech.

I really wanted to give a bridal speech at my wedding because I thought it would be a perfect way to express my joy and gratitude to everyone all at one time. Once I decided that I would give a brides speech, I thought it would be nice to go first so that I could just sit back and enjoy all of the other wedding speeches and toasts.

My Bride Wedding Speech Tips

Looking For Wedding Speech Resources

After stressing out for weeks thinking about writing and giving my bride’s speech, I hit the internet for some intense online research.

I decided against trying any of the jokes and other antidotes that I found for free online because they somehow just didn’t work for me and actually seemed a little cheesy.

But I did find one really good resource written specifically about preparing and giving bride’s speeches that helped me focus on all the right things. In fact, I got right down to business and started writing my speech the same day I got the guide. What a relief!

This resource was really the most helpful information on bride’s speeches that I had found anywhere! After searching for many hours over a number of days, I found this guide that just “cut to the chase” and provided many bride speech examples and tips for presenting the perfect wedding speech.

Click Here To See The Guide That Made Writing My Wedding Speech Easy And Stress-Free

A Wedding Speech To Remember

Though my wedding speech was not as long as some of the other bridal speeches that I read about, it contained all of the components a good speech should have. I thanked Mom & Dad and Nicks parents, all of the groomsman and bride’s maids.

I included stories about the best man and my sister, who was my maid of honor. I thanked all of the guests for coming and for their generosity (for the gifts). I also thanked all of our friends and family that had to do some serious traveling to get there.

I also did a special tribute for Nick. I described how we met and how and when I knew he was the “one”. Although Nick and I did our wedding speeches separately, it was wonderful to hear these same things and events from his point of view.

Because we didn’t write our own vows, this part of my bride wedding speech was my favorite. I may be biased, but I thought my wedding speech was the best one of the night. I didn’t stumble around, I was prepared and didn’t waste even one minute worrying about my bride’s speech. I lived in the moment through my whole wedding and have a memory that I will cherish forever.

One of the early questions I had when I thought about writing my wedding speech was; “What should I include in my speech?” After a lot of research I concluded that most bride wedding speeches included the following components:

1) An Opening Line
2) An Offering of thanks to family & friends with emphasis on those who participated most at the wedding (include their generosity to cover the gifts).
3) Something nice about your parents
4) Something nice about the grooms parents
5) Maybe some observations about the wedding
6) Something romantic and wonderful about your new husband
7) Some sort of closing or bride’s toast

Note: I found this example of a bride wedding speech that you really wouldn’t want to pattern your wedding speech after. Try to appear more spontaneous and never read your bride’s speech directly from a sheet of paper!

Though I was confused as to where to start my wedding speech, the resource that I found most helpful pulled it all together for me. It had a number of bride speech examples and an easy process for writing my own personalized bridal speech. I’m not sure I could have written my speech without this guide.

Click Here To Discover This Wonderful Wedding Speech Resource

Also, a number of articles and blog posts I read describing bride wedding speeches also included a special note about any special circumstances that may have affected you; like a death in the family or wishes that a parent or in-law were still alive. Including a mention along these lines as part of the joyous event, can be a nice touch, but don’t let it put a damper on the upbeat, festive atmosphere of the wedding day.

Luckily, I didn’t need to add a note to this effect in my bride’s speech and felt blessed that this was the case.

I found that bridal speeches are given in all different styles and themes, so I needed to decide which one was right for me. Nick and I both have rather large extended and very active families which were going to be attending our wedding ceremony and reception. Both families had emotional events over the last year and a half, so I ruled out those styles of a bride wedding speech that went into a lot of detail about individual family events.

I also didn’t want to evoke any really sad memories that took away from the main event of the wedding day. So, as I searched for the right style and theme for me, I found a resource that provided various bride speech examples like; Humorous, Tributes, Emotional, Family Stories, etc. that helped me tremendously.

Click Here To See The Bride Wedding Speech Guide That Saved The Day!

I had read a lot about bride wedding speeches that started with a joke and then took on a humorous sort of “poking fun at the groom” type of theme. But knowing my shortcomings, like not being a really good joke teller, I decided it wouldn’t be such a good idea to debut my first comedic routine on my wedding day. There’s enough stress already!

What I opted for with my bridal speech was one that had all of the proper components, but focused more on extolling the virtues of the wonderful man that I was about to marry. Sort of a special tribute just for Nick. I just wanted to end my bride wedding speech with everyone saying AWWWWWW! I’m happy to say that my speech surely delivered on this wish and there were lots of misty eyes in the crowd as well!

Where in the wedding program do you schedule the brides speech? Wow – I didn’t realize that the order of the wedding speeches was going to cause such a problem. When I went online for some advice, I found that there were definitely different opinions on where different brides placed their bride speeches.

When Should You Give Your Bride’s Speech?

There were a large number of brides who chose to do their wedding speeches first. I believe that they really just wanted to get their speech out of the way so that they could sit back and enjoy the grooms speech, father of the bride speech and all the rest. Other brides just didn’t want to worry about the content of their speech overlapping with the other speeches.

A few of the responses I received when I posted a question on a popular bridal site definitely leaned toward not wanting to become emotional over the other wedding speeches and have to pull themselves together for the big bride’s speech at the end. Still others relished the idea of being last so that they could have the wedding speech with the most long lasting impact on the wedding guests.

Click Here To Discover My Wedding Speech Secret Weapon!

Don’t Forget This Important Wedding Speech Tip

One overriding tip from everyone I talked to, including the responses from my post, was to absolutely make sure that your Master of Ceremonies knows exactly what order the wedding speeches are to be given. Your bride wedding speech should be included where you feel most comfortable and where it makes the most sense. Remember: it’s your decision!

I chose to do my brides speech first and I am so glad that I did. Aside from the fact that I did get emotional over the other wedding speeches, it was so nice to just sit back and enjoy. Now deciding what was in my bridal speech was a whole other story!

My first thought was: Should I be giving a bride’s speech at my upcoming wedding? Well for a modern woman, I was intent on having a pretty traditional wedding. As the wedding got closer, I started doing some research on bridal speeches. I know that in the traditional Victorian past, it was only the grooms that did the speaking, so I wanted some feedback on whether or not modern brides were doing a wedding speech.

Do Modern Brides Give Wedding Speeches?

My first inclination was to stick to the traditional program, mostly because I wanted to be able to sit back and enjoy the entire wedding experience, including the grooms speech and the other wedding speeches, without worrying about preparing a bride’s speech of my own.

However, I read a lot of feedback from other brides and finally came to the conclusion that I should and would do the bridal speech. So, the first thing I did was fire up my laptop and look for help on preparing a bride wedding speech.

The first thing that came to mind was, “What should I talk about in my wedding speech?” I did find some helpful information that made sense and that was to for the bride to thank her guests and those people most special to her. This would include the wedding party members, those who helped you get ready for the wedding and reception, and your parents, of course.

Click Here To Discover Which Bride’s Wedding Speech Guide Saved The Day For Me!

Is A Combined Bride & Groom Wedding Speech A Real Option?

I also wanted to find out if a combined bride and groom speech would be an option. I thought it might be interesting to do our speeches together and not have to worry about overlapping content.

But after discussing it with Nick, we decided that it would be better to surprise each other on our special day with personalized wedding speeches with a section just to each other.

It really turned out to be the right decision, because my bride’s speech and his groom’s speech made the event even more personal and touching.
